Blepharoplasty (Eyelid Surgery)

Restore brightness and youthful expression to the eyes. Dr. Hua’s blepharoplasty addresses tired, hooded, or puffy eyes on the upper, lower, or both lids, and pairs naturally with a deep plane facelift for full-face rejuvenation.

Overview

The eyes serve as the focal point of the face, the gateway to our emotions and nonverbal expression. Aging, gravity, skin quality, sun exposure, and genetics can dull their shine, leaving them weary and tired.

Blepharoplasty offers a refreshing solution to eyes that have lost their vitality. Dr. Hua uses a variety of techniques to restore bright youthfulness to the eye area and rejuvenate the overall appearance of the face.

Because a deep plane facelift primarily addresses the midface, jawline, and neck, the eyes can be the one area that still reads as tired afterward. For that reason, blepharoplasty is one of the most common companions to a deep plane facelift, completing the rejuvenation of the upper third of the face.

Benefits

Why patients choose Blepharoplasty

01

Rejuvenate the Eye Area

Restores brightness to the tissues surrounding the eyes, returning a rested, alert expression.

02

Eliminate Under-Eye Bags

Addresses puffiness and excess fat in the lower eyelid for a smoother, refreshed contour.

03

Smooth Wrinkles

Removes crepey skin and fine wrinkles on both upper and lower eyelids.

04

Improve Vision

Corrects ptosis and hooded skin that can obstruct the upper visual field.

05

Complements a Facelift

Refreshing the eyes alongside a deep plane facelift keeps the upper and lower face in balance for a cohesive result.

06

Long-Lasting

Upper eyelid surgery results can last anywhere from five years to a lifetime.

Candidacy

Is Blepharoplasty right for you?

  • You are in good overall health and do not smoke
  • You have no serious eye conditions or uncontrolled thyroid problems
  • You have realistic expectations of what eyelid surgery can achieve
  • You experience tired, hooded, or puffy eyes that aging skincare can’t address
  • You have visible bags or excess skin that affects how you look or see
  • You are planning a deep plane facelift and want the eyes to match the result

Techniques

Approaches Dr. Hua uses

Upper Eyelid Surgery

Incisions are made within the natural crease of the upper eyelid. Excess skin and fat are removed or repositioned, muscles are tightened, and the incision is closed, leaving virtually no visible scar.

Lower Eyelid Surgery

Incisions can be placed just below the lash line (subciliary) or hidden inside the lower eyelid (transconjunctival). Either technique allows excess fat to be repositioned or removed for a smoother lower-lid contour.

  • Canthopexy: fox-eye lift that gently tightens the outer corner of the eye
  • Canthoplasty: cat-eye reshaping for sagging, tilted, or uneven eyelids
  • Tarsal strip: corrects ectropion or entropion of the lower lid

Double Eyelid Surgery (Asian Blepharoplasty)

A highly specialized procedure that reshapes the upper eyelid to create or refine a crease, framing the eyes more expressively. Dr. Hua offers both partial- and full-incision techniques matched to your goals.

  • Full incision: addresses excess skin and fat with the most permanent result
  • Partial incision: minimal scarring, best for excess fat with minimal excess skin

Companion Procedures

Because blepharoplasty is so targeted, many patients combine it with a deep plane facelift, brow lift, rhinoplasty, or microfat grafting for a more comprehensive rejuvenation in a single recovery.
